3. result

4. flight

Start the journey home relaxed

Step 1: Registration

Be sure to take care of the required Corona test in time before your departure! Remember that there may be a certain waiting time, especially in the peak season. An appointment reservation is recommended in any case, even if it is not mandatory everywhere.

The exact procedure for registration may differ slightly depending on the location. - You can obtain information online on the website of the test center or by telephone. In most cases, it works like this: You visit the website of the respective test center and are directed there to an online booking portal. Here you register with your personal data and a valid e-mail address. You will then receive an e-mail to this address with your access link for booking an appointment. Now you select a free appointment and specify which test you want to perform (rapid antigen test or PCR test). It is usually possible to book appointments for several people at once. You will then receive a QR code, which you show later at the test center.

You can often already make the payment online during the booking process - usually by credit card or PayPal. Alternatively, you can pay on site in cash or with your credit or debit card.

If you do not have access to the online booking system, you can usually make an appointment by phone.

Step 2: Get tested

At the test center, you identify yourself with your QR code and your passport or ID card. You will then be guided through the testing process by the staff on site. Often, you can choose whether a nasal or throat swab should be performed. Spit or gargle tests are also available at many locations for children and sensitive individuals. Rapid antigen tests are evaluated directly on site, and for PCR tests, the collected sample is forwarded to a specialized laboratory.

Normally, the test is completed within a few minutes. To avoid unnecessary waiting time, you should take the following with you to the test center:

  • the QR code you received during the booking process
  • an official photo ID (passport or identity card)
  • one FFP2 mask
  • Credit card, debit card or cash if you have not already paid online

Step 3: Get result

You will usually receive the test result within 15 to 30 minutes for a rapid antigen test. For a PCR test, you should expect a waiting time of 24 to 48 hours. Partly, PCR rapid tests are also offered, which already provide a result within a few hours.

For quick tests, you can wait on site and have the test certificate printed out on paper. If you have registered online, you will also receive the result in digital form directly to your smartphone.

You should have the proof - whether digital or in paper form - ready to hand when you check in before your departure. The airlines are obliged to check the negative test result. Alternatively, you will need confirmation that you have been vaccinated or have recovered.

Your advantages

  • CONVENIENT ONLINE BOOKING

  • QUICK RESERVATION

  • TRAINED STAFF

  • NO QUEUES

  • ANTERIOR NASAL SWAB

  • BFARM APPROVED TESTS

After the return journey: no quarantine obligation for Mallorca vacationers

The good news for Mallorca vacationers: Since the Balearic Islands are no longer considered a risk area, no quarantine is required after returning from vacation. You also do not have to show the German health authorities a negative Corona test. Only at the airport can the police demand proof of testing, which all air travelers need - regardless of whether they are entering from a risk area or not.

Quarantine would only be required if you have been in a risk area within 10 days before entering Germany. Large parts of mainland Spain are currently still considered risk areas, including the popular cities of Madrid and Barcelona. If you have vacationed in a risk area, the following rules apply to you upon entry:

    Digital entry registration

Before you travel home from a risk area, you must fill out an entry declaration, in which you provide detailed information about your whereabouts. This works online via the portal https://einreiseanmeldung.de. Alternatively, you can also fill out a substitute notification on paper. You will receive a confirmation that you must show during checks by the airlines or border police.

    Duty to test

People entering the country from risk areas generally need a Corona test, which must be done at the earliest 48 hours before and at the latest 48 hours after entry (exception: a PCR test can be done 72 hours in advance). - If you, as an air traveler, have already had to take a test in advance, you do not, of course, need to be tested again after your arrival. The responsible health office can require the proof from you up to 10 days after your entry.

Vaccinated or recovered persons are exempt from the testing requirement if they provide appropriate proof.

    Quarantine

If you are returning from a risk area, you are required to undergo a 10-day quarantine - again, except for vaccinated and convalescent persons. However, you can end the quarantine early as soon as you submit a negative Corona test via the official travel portal of the Federal Republic.

Mallorca is not a risk area - the Spanish mainland is

Whether testing is compulsory or quarantine is required, the regulations for people returning from travel depend heavily on the region in which they vacationed. The Robert Koch Institute continuously assesses the situation and classifies countries and regions with high numbers of cases as risk areas. For these, a travel warning is normally issued by the German Foreign Office.

Spain was particularly hard hit at the beginning of the Corona pandemic and was on the list of risk areas for a long time. This has since changed: The Balearic Islands with Mallorca, Ibiza, Menorca and Formentera have very low case numbers and are therefore no longer considered risk areas. The same applies to the Canary Islands (Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote, etc.). Mainland Spain, on the other hand, is still considered a risk area, except for some regions with very low incidence (Galicia, Valencia, Murcia, Extremadura, Asturias, Ceuta).

The fact that Mallorca is no longer classified as a risk area brings some conveniences for vacationers:

    • There is no travel warning issued by the German Foreign Office.
    • In principle, there is no obligation to register for the return journey.
    • No quarantine is required after the vacation.

Return journey after the Majorca vacation: Proof obligation for air travelers

Nevertheless, most Mallorca vacationers are not spared a Corona test before returning home.

    Corona test mandatory before departure

The reason: For air travelers from abroad, the new coronavirus entry regulation of May 12, 2021, provides for a general testing requirement. This applies regardless of whether one is entering from a risk area or not! Airlines are obliged to require a negative test result from passengers before departure. The only exceptions are children under 6 years of age and persons who have already been vaccinated or have recovered. However, special proof is required for these as well.

If you have not yet been fully vaccinated or have not had a covid disease, then it is mandatory that you already have a negative Corona test at check-in before departure. Otherwise the airlines are not allowed to take you on board! The German Federal Police may also check the proof of your Corona status upon arrival at the airport. You can easily book your test appointment at coronacheck-mallorca.de

    F.A.Q.

What happens if the test is positive?

If you test positive, the airlines are not allowed to take you on board! In case of a positive rapid antigen test, a PCR laboratory test is usually performed for confirmation. If this is also positive, then you must be in isolation for at least 10 days on site according to the regulations of the Spanish health authorities. On Mallorca, the regional government has set up special quarantine hotels for infected vacationers. You pay nothing for your stay there if you present your European Health Insurance Card (EHIC).

Whether you can also spend the quarantine in your booked hotel or accommodation, you must clarify on site in the accommodation or with your tour operator. However, the costs for this are then to be borne by yourself.

Presumably from the end of May, all Mallorca vacationers are to be insured against additional costs in the event of a Corona infection. This was recently announced by the regional government of the Balearic Islands. Just as in the Canary Islands, the insurance is to come into effect free of charge and automatically as soon as one books a stay in a hotel or other accommodation. The insurance will cover costs for quarantine, travel home and possible medical treatment, up to a sum of 15,000 euros.

    Which tests are acceptable?

PCR tests and comparable tests(LAMP and TMA methods) are accepted. A rapid antigen test is also acceptable if it meets the minimum criteria defined by the WHO. These include a specificity of at least 97 percent and a sensitivity of at least 80 percent compared to PCR tests. Testing must be performed or supervised by healthcare professionals at certified testing centers or in physicians' offices or hospitals. At our Six Test Centers on Playa de Palma, PCR tests and rapid tests can be performed easily near the popular hotels at the Balneario 1 to 15 beach sections.

Corona self-tests, which are now available in many drugstores, supermarkets and pharmacies, are not accepted as proof of testing when entering Germany! Antibody tests are also not accepted, because they cannot reliably detect an acute infection.

What form must the test certificate have?

You can show the test certificate at check-in either in paper form or digitally on your smartphone. The certificate may be written in German, English, Spanish, French or Italian.

To avoid any problems at check-in, the following should be noted on the test certificate:

    • First and last name of the tested person
    • Number of the passport or identity card
    • Test date
    • Information on the test procedure (type and name of the test)
    • Name and contact details of the test center or test laboratory

How old may the test be?

This depends on the type of test: PCR tests may be performed a maximum of 72 hours ago, antigen tests a maximum of 48 hours ago. The exact time of entry into Germany is decisive. If you arrive by plane, then the planned arrival time at the German destination airport counts.

    What costs can be expected?

The Balearic government introduced a cap on the cost of Corona tests on May 9. Test centers are allowed to charge a maximum of 75 euros for a PCR test, and a maximum of

    30 euro

    require.

Corona tests in the public health system are free of charge. However, they are only intended for people who have symptoms or have had contact with an infected person. In this case, the attending physician must order the test.

What are the exceptions for vaccinated and recovered individuals?

Persons who are already fully vaccinated or have recently undergone a covid disease are exempt from the proof requirement for air travelers. If this applies to you, then you must provide the airlines with appropriate proof at check-in.

You are considered vaccinated if you have already received both partial vaccinations of a vaccine recognized in Germany. The second partial vacc ination must have taken place at least 14 days ago. Exception: if you were vaccinated with the Cilag International NV/Johnson & Johnson vaccine, one vaccination dose is sufficient. Also, people who have survived a Corona infection are considered fully vaccinated with just one dose of vaccine. As proof, you will need your vaccination certificate or other confirmation in written or digital form.

You are considered recovered if your Corona infection occurred at least 28 days and no more than 6 months ago. You need proof of a positive PCR test or a comparable test procedure (LAMP or TMA tests). You can show this test proof either in paper form or digitally on your smartphone. It can be written in German, English, Spanish, French or Italian.

Test centers on Mallorca: Here you can get tested

There are now several testing centers on the island of Mallorca that offer PCR and antigen testing for vacation returnees.

First of all, it is important to note: Test centers for travelers usually target healthy people who do not show symptoms of a possible corona infection. Contact a doctor or hospital if you suspect an illness! This also applies if you have had contact with an infected person.
